About

Story concept

Quoting the theory of reincarnation in Buddhist thought: When you can get rid of the repetitive life, you can achieve spiritual evolution and return to wholeness. I think we all live the same life and understand the same truth. Just learning the same thing at different ages. We pursue the ideal in our hearts, because the ideal exists and we follow the path of the ideal. Regardless of whether we have reached the ultimate goal, we will still have new ideals, continue to move forward with the ideals, and finally end our lives with the goals in mind.

Chicken Nuggets Comparison

The chicken nuggets in the story represent the ideal in everyone's heart. Its size and shape will change with life. And an ideal end will be the beginning of another ideal. No matter which stage of ideal we hold before death, you will still be your most original appearance. So there is no need to be afraid of death, we are all a cycle of this universe.

The most interesting part of this project was experimenting with stop-motion for the ending. I bought McDonald’s chicken nuggets and built a simple home studio to shoot the scene. Using clay, I created different facial expressions for the nuggets and shaped their mouths to match each letter, so the animation could spell out the phrase “What do you want to be?”

For the sound design, I created a looping track in GarageBand and recorded my own voice repeating the title, “What do you want to be?” The repeated sound was intended to create a slightly hypnotic and playful feeling that reinforces the theme of the piece.
